On February 14, 2012, much of America celebrated Saint Valentine's Day. On campus, Montverde Academy students in grades PreK-3 to 1st grade identified important people in our community by making Valentine’s cards and presenting them to honored recipients as part of a special MVA Lower-school February Community Service Project ceremony held during morning assembly yesterday. Maureen Kesselring, MVA Learning Resource and Curriculum Coordinator, led this extraordinary day of observance and read aloud many student testimonials of appreciation for each honoree. Students then presented Valentines to those reverenced that included MVA Headmaster Dr. Kasey Kesselring and Lower-school Dean Meristell Shackelford, Elena Neff, Assistant of the Lower-school Dean, Jayne Beucher, Assistant Dean of Lower-school, MVA Registered Nurse Tamela Mankewich, and members of the MVA Maintenance, custodial, and dining-room staffs, the Montverde Mayor, Sherriff, firemen, United States Post Office, and MVA Parent’s Association. The event was attended by Montverde Academy staff and faculty, students, their parents, and friends of Montverde, Florida. This community service project provided a great way to celebrate Saint Valentines’ day and acknowledge the many people that make MVA and Montverde, Florida, an outstanding community to live, learn, and grow as a both a student and individual.
