This is the new Montverde Academy WaterSkiing/WakeBoarding team. They plan on competing this summer and into the fall against other schools in the Florida Area. The team is being coached by former Olympic athlete Jennifer Leachman LaPoint. The teams will compete on Lake Florence and be judged on form, landings, balance, length of time up on skis and speed. Fifteen students have signed up to either compete in water skiing or wake boarding. LaPoint hopes to form a league in the Central Florida area so schools can compete against each other. If all goes well, the teams in the league can petition the Florida High School Athletic Association to recognize water sports as a sport across the state.
