It has been a monumental week for the Montverde Academy varsity swim team as they competed Tuesday against East Ridge High School at the National Training Center and then again on Thursday in a dual meet against Tavares High School and Mt. Dora Bible at the Golden Triangle YMCA in Tavares. “I am proud of the way this team has come together on such short notice and extremely impressed with our results so far,” commented newly appointed Head Coach Rachel Glines. The Lady Eagles defeated East Ridge on Tuesday by a final score of 84-82, while the boys varsity team also put forth a solid performance despite missing out on several events due to inferior numbers.
MVA then hit the road for the second meet of the week where the boys varsity team defeated Tavares by a final score of 44 to 42. The Lady Eagles were victorious yet again with victories over Mt. Dora and Tavares. “I feel like we have grown as a team and as individuals over the course of this week and have improved in many ways,” said Glines Friday afternoon. “I am definitely looking forward to getting into the pool again next week and competing against yet another strong opponent.” The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, October 20th at the National Training Center in Clermont where Montverde Academy will compete in their 3rd and final meet for the regular season. All are encouraged to attend and support the team!
