MVA Swimming Program Makes Great Strides

20111110 swim_330x230Montverde Academy swimmers have grown into an exceptional team and last weekend were very effective at the Class 1A Region 2 swim meet - 7 out of 12 MVA swimmers qualified to regional finals and competed in individual events. Swimmers Lauren Robertson, Ben Buddendorf, Ben Gebauer, Joshua Monacelli, and Luiggi Reno, respectively, made it to the championship final and are now considered for States competition.

Montverde Academy Swim Team Soars to Success

It has been a monumental week for the Montverde Academy varsity swim team as they competed Tuesday against East Ridge High School at the National Training Center and then again on Thursday in a dual meet against Tavares High School and Mt. Dora Bible at the Golden Triangle YMCA in Tavares.  “I am proud of the way this team has come together on such short notice and extremely impressed with our results so far,” commented newly appointed Head Coach Rachel Glines.  The Lady Eagles defeated East Ridge on Tuesday by a final score of 84-82, while the boys varsity team also put forth a solid performance despite missing out on several events due to inferior numbers.

Montverde Academy Swims in Season Opener

Montverde Academy will compete in its first meet as a varsity swim team this afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont according to Mike Potempa, Director of Athletics.  “Dr. Kesselring and I are happy to announce that we will have a boys and girls varsity swim team for the 2011-12 academic year,” said Potempa.  “We have a large number of students who swim competitively outside of the Academy, and it was our vision to bring them together and compete as a Montverde Academy varsity team.”
