MVA Varsity Boys’ Soccer Continues Last Year’s Success

The MVA Boys' Varsity Soccer team is on its way to another amazing season. The Eagles' have already accrued a record of 14-0-2 and are currently ranked #5 nationally by ESPN's Powerade Fab 50. Even with the unfortunate injury of MVA starter and ESPN RISE Third-team All-American Joao Ramalho (out many months with a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury), the Boys' Eagles have continued their 43 game unbeaten streak that began last year as ESPN's National Champions (last year's 26-0-1 record and the current 14-0-2 record). MVA Varsity Boys' Soccer team has scored a remarkable 80 goals so far this season. The leading goal scorer is Senior Forward Juanjo Morales with 25 goals and 3 assists. Morales broke MVA's school scoring record last season with 28 goals and at only the half-way point of this season has scored 25. Senior Forward Henrique Novaes has also played very well offensively scoring 11 goals while contributing 7 assists. Senior Midfielder David Graydon (named a ESPN RISE Second Team All-American last winter by ESPN) is off to a fine start too and has scored 7 goals and added 11 assists. This past Saturday night, our Eagles played Lake Mary High School at home and Montverde Academy was again victorious by the score of 6-0. From December 20-22, 2011, our Boys' Eagles team will be playing in the Berkeley Prep Invitational in Tampa, Florida. Then from January 12-14, 2012, they will host their own inaugural soccer tournament -the MAST- (Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament) as they compete against such nationally ranked teams as American Heritage from Delray Beach, Florida, Brophy Prep from Phoenix, Arizona, and Tampa Jesuit High School from Tampa, Florida.
