Montverde Academy Soccer Signs 7 to Division I

MVA Boys Varsity Soccer Ranked #1 by ESPN

According to the November 3, 2011, ESPN POWERADE FAB 50 Boys' High School Soccer Preseason Rankings, the Montverde Academy Boys' Soccer team is ranked #1 in the United States of America. Last year's team, under the adept coaching direction of MVA Athletic Director Mike Potempa, was awarded with the POWERADE FAB 50 Winter National Championship and in over-all rankings warded-off annually competitive soccer power-houses such as Brophy Prep from Phoenix, Arizona, and Strake Jesuit College Prep from Houston, Texas - currently ranked #2 and #3 respectively in same poll.

MVA Varsity Boys’ Soccer Captures M.A.S.T. Championship 2012!

Montverde Academy Boys' Varsity Soccer Team hosted its first-ever invitational soccer tournament – the M.A.S.T – January 12-14, 2012, at the MVA Athletic Complex. “The Team to Watch” according to ESPN

The Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Team has been recognized as “The Team to Watch” this winter in the State of Florida according to the latest edition of ESPN Rise Magazine.  The Eagles were crowned 2010-11 ESPN Rise/Powerade Fab 50 National Champions after going unbeaten for the first time in school history with an overall record of 26-0-1. 

ESPN Rise Magazine listed seniors David Graydon and Joao Ramalho among the top 11 players in the State of Florida for the upcoming season after their All-American accolades at the conclusion of the 2010-11 campaign.  According to ESPN, “While the Eagles graduated a ton of talent, arguably their best players return this season.”  The Eagles will begin the 2011-12 season in early November as they travel to Melbourne where they will participate in the Melbourne High School Pre-Season Invitational. 

“I am looking forward to the soccer season as it is right around the corner,” said Head Coach Mike Potempa.  “We did some great things last year, but our focus will now shift to the future as we aim to work harder and play to the best of our ability each day.  Once this team reaches match fitness and gains an understanding, I believe we will be competitive once again this year.”

MVA Hosting Inaugural Soccer Tournament (M.A.S.T) January 12-14, 2012

Montverde Academy is extremely happy to be hosting its first annual invitational soccer tournament - the M.A.S.T. - January 12th thru 14th, 2011, at the MVA Athletic Complex. Each day will have four competitive games played and on Thursday and Friday games will start each day at 2 pm (games times at 2,4,6,8 pm) and on Saturday games will commence at 12:30 pm (games times 12:30, 2:30, 4:30 and 7:30 pm) with the M.A.S.T. Championship game scheduled to be played at 7:30pm. The competition

Top Honors to a Top Team!

NATIONAL RANKING FOR EAGLES

The Montverde soccer team may have hung up their spikes on another season, but the honors keep on coming.  ESPN Rise Magazine has the Eagles ranked #2 nationally and in the Powerade Fab 50 National Ranking.  It's a new high for the team as they are already ranked #1 in the state of Florida.

"I am extremely pleased with our efforts throughout the season.  It has been a long road and with a tremendous amount of dedication and concentration, but I am certainly glad that our boys have now witnessed the power of hard work", said Coach Mike Potempa.

MVA Varsity Boys’ Soccer Continues Last Year’s Success

The MVA Boys' Varsity Soccer team is on its way to another amazing season. The Eagles' have already accrued a record of 14-0-2 and are currently ranked #5 nationally by ESPN's Powerade Fab 50. Even with the unfortunate injury of MVA starter and ESPN RISE Third-team All-American Joao Ramalho (out many months with a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury), the Boys' Eagles have continued their 43 game unbeaten streak that began last year as ESPN's National Champions (last year's 26-0-1 record and the current 14-0-2 record).

Soccer team reigns ESPN National Spotlight

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS GET THEIR TROPHY

The light glistening off the glass trophy in the Montverde Academy gym was no match for the bright smiles on the faces of the school's soccer team sitting right behind it.  On a copper plate at the base of the trophy the inscription read: "ESPN Rise Magazine Powerade Fab 50 National Champions:Montverde Academy.  It was the crowning moment in a soccer season filled with long practices, physical games and a couple of bruises along the way.

This was Montverde's time to enjoy!
