Montverde Academy’s Benitez Wins FCWT at Eagle Creek

Last month, Montverde Academy 9th grader and GGGA student Vicente Benitez discovered himself tied with Priyanshu Singh at 4-under-par 142 after 36 holes that forced a playoff in the FCWT(Future Collegians World Tour) Boys 13-15 Division Tournament at Eagle Creek in Statesboro, Georgia. Benitez, originally from Mexico, competed very well and attained consecutive rounds of 71 at Eagle Creek before defeating Singh on the first playoff hole by sinking an opportune birdie putt from a challenging

Montverde Academy is very pleased with our students who also aspire to be junior golfers and in membership with the American Junior Golf Association, a non-profit organization whose mission is "dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf." Another solid victory for your MVA Eagles. Yesterday was a great day; the temperature was down, the birds were chirping, and your Eagles were playing some of the best golf they have played all year. With personal lows from Robby Healey, Jake Labrador, Sydney Adkins, Beth Cramer, and Jose Hernandez the golf team was able to shoot a 180 defeating CFCA by a solid margin. With only three matches left the team looks to continue this run of victories as they face off against Forest Lake Academy today.

Autumn is soon approaching and with it the welcomed return of The Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Invitational. The tournament is a Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series Event held in partnership with AJGA, GGGA and Montverde Academy. This year the event will convene at the picturesque Bella Collina Golf Course in Montverde, Florida on October 7 through 10, 2011. Boys and girls from ages 12-16 will be competing in a field size of 78 and playing 54 holes of standard stroke play.

Gary Gilchrist has been selected among the 50 Best Golf Teachers in America according to the November issue Golf Digest. Montverde Academy congratulates the golf mentor and founder of The Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy (GGGA) on his superb accolade of recognition. Many people in the MVA community recognize the Gilchrist name in relationship to our school's academic partnership with the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy at Mission Inn Resort in nearby Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Another solid victory in the books. Yesterday your MVA Eagles Golf Team faced off against Central Florida Christian Academy at Bella Collina. With first time Varsity participants Jose Hernandez and Sydney Adkins your Eagles were able to fend off CFCA earning their 5th victory of the season. Several young golfers, including Amy Yu, earned their stripes and proved anyone can compete. As always, please congratulate all of the Golf Team members on a match well played.
MVA Boys Golf Ranked 3rd in Orlando Sentinel Super 6

The Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Golf team has a great deal to celebrate this golf season. They have been very successful in competitions and won the area 1A-11 title. Additionally, according to the Orlando Sentinel Boys Golf Super Six announced October 22, 2011, our Montverde Academy Eagles Golf team is currently ranked third. This is a great honor and very respectable accomplishment for our team.

The MVA Golf Team would like to thank Dr. Kesselring and the rest of the administration for arranging for our team to play at one of the most beautiful courses in Central Florida, Bella Collina. MVA Varsity Golf Wins First Ever District Title

On Monday, October 17th, the Montverde Academy Varsity Golf Team won in spectacular fashion with a four stroke victory in the 1A District Boys Golf Tournament at Metro West. In the first ever district golf title in school history, MVA’s Gonzalo Rubio shot a convincing one-under with a score of 71. Just as impressive as Rubio’s play was that of the entire Montverde Academy team as their collective effort will now take them into regional competition .

Yesterday was Montverde Academy's home opener for Varsity Golf and your MVA Eagles came out in fine style. Facing off at the very difficult Bella Collia, playing well over 3500 yards, your Eagles were able to score 159, beating Foundation Academy by 35 stokes. A solid victory considering Foundation finished, tied for 3rd in the District Championship last season. The first victory is in the books and the golf team looks to the future for more victories and even lower scores.

The victories continue…but Coach Clapper gains some grey hair. Yesterday’s match against Forest Lake Academy was the closest match the MVA Golf Team has faced all year. Just 3 strokes was the difference between victory and defeat and your Eagles were able to pull off a nail biting victory at Bella Collina. The victory would not have been possible without the outstanding play from Chris Tsai. Chris was able to post a 4 over 40, beating his lowest score of the year by 5 shots.

NICK REACH FEATURED IN ARTICLE
Montverde Academy graduate Nicholas Reach can't wait to compete in his next golf tournament. He already has a top 25 ranking on the junior curcuit and is looking forward to attending college in Georgia.
