Montverde Academy Upper School Junior Kailin Kesselring participated in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration World Grand Championship show in Shelbyville, Tennessee, August 24 – September 3, 2011. The event consisted of eleven days of competition comprised of both morning and evening sessions. Kailin was extremely successful in the owner-amateur-youth riders portion of the competition for ages twelve to seventeen riding on lite shod mares and geldings. In an undisputed fashion, Kailin won this elite classification, becoming the world champion in this division for this year.
“Winning at the celebration was really shocking and exciting. It just feels good to see a whole years’ worth of work pay off! I'm really proud of that win & also happy for my dad (Headmaster, Dr. Kasey Kesselring) because it is his horse! Her name is vindicated, but we call her KK in the barn.”
The win was a prodigious accomplishment in its own right and especially so because Kailin won with all five judges placing her first unanimously – rare for any horse-related event of this nature. The MVA community is very proud of Kailin’s effort and astonishing accomplishments at The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration World Grand Championship show and we wish her continued success in her future competitions.
