His hair is as black as coal and he has a little white star on the top of his head. When he walks he wobbles alot, but he still manages to get around okay. He doesn't like the camera or the click of the shutter and the flash. Why would he? He was just born a few hours ago.
A new colt has been born at the Montverde Academy Equestrian Center. The little guy (if you call this little) weighs approximately 60lbs and stands a little more than 4 feet tall. Still unnamed and waiting for visits from Lower School students, the Tennessee Walking Horse is likely a hopeful for future competition in the horse showing world.
The proud parents are "Miss Blaze" and the sire "Push Me Hard", another Tennessee Walking Horse.
Our new addition arrived the same way our last new colt did, in the early morning hours when no one was around -5:30 AM is the official time of birth. He spent his first morning cuddling and nursing with his momma and doing his best to dodge the cameras. Trainer Sara Womack had to step in and hold the colt so a good picture of him could be taken.
Now it's time to start thinking of some possible names.
If you want to see the new pony and hear Sara Womack tell us a little bit more about him, go to www.montverde.tv, scroll down to the WELCOME tab and click on the title: "Tennessee Walking Horse pony".
