At Saturday's Pre-State Invitational in Dade City, Freshman Ciara Hopkins took third place in the Varsity Open, leading the girls team to a 6th-place finish in a 21-team race. For the boys, Sophomore Conner Bergin broke his own school record by nineteen seconds, finishing in 17:52.32.

The top five girls averaged 22:33 for the race, just four second behind their 22:29 average at last week's Hagerty Invitational. The top five boys averaged 20:06 this week, an improvement of thirty-three seconds from last week.
Coach Troy Urquhart said, "The improvement in our boys' times this week was what we hoped to see--Conner [Bergin]'s sub-18 puts his season goal of 17:30 in sight, and the boys team improved their average time again today. Our girls team has raced a bit more than the boys so far this season, and they've taken off more than four minutes per runner since their first race, so what we saw from them today was what we wanted to see: confirmation that they can run these times consistently and that they're on track for a good performance in November."
