Cooler weather made for great running conditions at this weekend's flrunners.com Invitational 12 presented by Nike in Titusville.

The top five runners on the girls team dropped nearly seven and a half minutes, collectively--this, after cutting over eight minutes at last week's meet in Winter Springs. For the boys team, Conner Bergin set a new school record for 5,000 meters with a time of 18:11.83.

Girls Highlights

The girls team took 8th place in a field of 21 scoring teams.

  • Freshman Ciara Hopkins ran a season's best time of 20:07 to take 4th in a field of 173 runners in the varsity open.
  • Tanner Dotson moved into the #2 position for the girls team, cutting two minutes from her personal best to run 22:51, finishing 36th.
  • Maya Rifai dropped nearly two and a half minutes, running 23:33.
  • Addison Adkins improved nearly ninety seconds to run 23:51.
  • Katie Young cut thirty-six seconds to run 24:46
  • Parinda Dechathipat dropped 1:44 from her previous personal record, running 24:53
  • Janki Patel improved her season's best time by over three minutes, finishing in 31:02.

Boys Highlights

  • With the seniors gone to take the SAT, the boys team did not include enough runners to score as a team in this meet.
  • Sophomore Conner Bergin took 17th in a field of 175 runners in the varsity open. His time of 18:11.83 is a new school record for the 5,000 meters, breaking the old record of 18:20.91 set by Bobby Crago at the 2010 District Meet.
  • Sang-Bin Park improved more than a minute, running 21:17.
  • Kaize Deng made his cross country debut with a time of 27:23.

The team will travel to Oviedo on Saturday, October 8, to compete in the Hagerty Invitational.
