MVA Boys’ Basketball Remains Unbeaten and Nationally Ranked

According to the most recent December 6, 2011, ESPN POWERADE FAB 50 National Boys' High School Basketball team rankings, MVA's Boys' Varsity Eagles are ranked #9 in America's Top 10 - above #10 perennial high-school basketball power DeMatha Catholic from Hyattsville, Maryland. Our Eagles are 5-0 and also ranked No. 7 in the country by USA Today after impressive victories this season that include beating ESPN's previously ranked No. 41 team Orlando Christian Prep. This past weekend, MVA beat Orlando, Florida, Class 8A trailblazers Olympia High School 64-50 in another unshakable victory led by the impressive offensive court play of Junior guard Kasey Hill (19 points) and MVA Senior/recent University of Florida signee Michael Frazier's spectacular 3-point field goal performance (at one stage during the game Frazier hit three consecutive three-point shots) helping to punctuate MVA's growing national reputation as a well-coached basketball team with a talented bench and starting five of skillful players that have a penchant for tiring-down their opponents with powerful spells of quick scoring and four quarters of an intense full-court press. We wish our Varsity Boys' Basketball Eagles continued success this month as they compete in two highly considered Florida holiday basketball tournaments. On December 16th – 21st they play in the City of Palms Tournament in Ft. Myers, Florida, (16-team tournament that includes seven teams ranked by USA Today) and December 27th – December 30th at the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament in Ocala, Florida – a tournament the newest Source Hoops poll (covering high school basketball in Florida, South Georgia and South Alabama) references as hosting three of the top five teams in Florida that (along with number #1 MVA) include #2 Ely and #5 Highland Prep.
