Montverde Academy is very excited to have Kevin Boyle as their Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Boyle joins MVA after a prestigious coaching career at St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. His coaching career began in 1988 and led him to teach marketing and public relations, become a successful fundraiser for student scholarships, and achieve basketball coaching triumphs for over two decades that helped him to accomplish 23 titles and numerous national awards of recognition that include the 2011 Naismith Coach of the Year, the 2009 ESPN National Coach of the Year, and the 2007 USA Today National Coach of the Year. Coach Boyle is one of only four coaches in high school basketball history to win the National Coach of the Year honor three times. The MVAEagles team will soon be returning to action after attaining a respectable record (25-5) and notable wins last season that included beating enduring New York champions Mount Vernon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) at the Iolani Classic in Hawaii. This year, the MVA Boys Varsity Basketball team is ranked in the top 10 teams in America according to the 2011/2012 Pre-season High-School National POWERADE Fab 50 Boys Basketball Rankings.
Coach Boyle is nationally regarded as an excellent motivator who stresses discipline, work ethic, and values of family and community outreach. His basketball programs have competed in nationally recognized tournaments such as the NIKE Extravaganza in Anaheim, CA, the Beachball Classic in Myrtle Beach, NC, the McDonald's Classic in Erie, PA, and the City of Palms Classic in Ft. Myers, FL. Coach Boyle is also nationally respected for his victorious career record of 551 wins and only 129 losses, fundraising and community relations efforts, training and development programs, expert basketball clinics, keynote speaker skills, coordination of summer basketball camps, his immense focus on both academic and athletic standards, and his distinguished relationships with college and NBA recruiters.
"Kevin Boyle is one of the best at utilizing the game of basketball as a tool for personal growth and self-development for young athletes. Through his extensive knowledge of the game, teaching style, and competitive drive for excellence, he has transformed the lives of many players into well rounded students, superior athletes, and strong citizens." commented Phil Weber, Assistant Coach, New York Knicks.
Coach Boyle's high school basketball programs have been extremely effective in producing many Parade Student Athlete All-Americans who have gone on to play at the Junior College and NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 levels. Many of his student athletes have competed for prestigious basketball institutions such as Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Villanova. On Tuesday, October 25th at 9 p.m. EST/PST, HBO will broadcast the exclusive premiere of the documentary Prayer For A Perfect Season that details Coach Boyle and his St. Patrick High School players throughout the 2010-11 season. The Montverde Academy looks forward to this year's upcoming Varsity Boys basketball season with enthusiastic optimism and wish Coach Boyle and his team and staff great success.
