MVA Girls Varsity Softball Team Wins at Home

Montverde, Fla., Feb. 22, 2012 - MVA Girls Varsity Softball team defeated Ocoee High School by a final score of 5-3 last night in a game played at home simultaneously next to the Boys' Varsity Baseball game with Leesburg High. MVA's spirits were elevated by the challenges of playing what seemed to many in attendance an obviously older Ocoee squad. Nonetheless, Ocoee proved no contest for our Lady Eagles who used sound softball fundamentals and the experienced coaching of Head Coach Bob Pinto and staff for the important instruction to help pull off the convincing win. The Lady Eagles are back in action with a District game February 23, 2012, away against First Academy.
Eagles Boys’ Baseball Defeats Leesburg High School

Montverde, Fla., Feb. 22, 2012 - MVA Boys' Varsity Baseball team hammered Leesburg High School Tuesday night by a score of 8-0 in a home game called in respect of central Florida high-school baseball "mercy rule"- having just scored what would have been MVA's 10th run after 5 innings. Coach Tim Layden was happy with the overall efforts of his team stating, " We played well in all areas... and had excellent performances both on the plate and on the mound by pitcher Bailey Ward who allowed 0 runs in 5 innings and struck out 9 batters." The Eagles are currently 3-2-1 and will be playing again at home this coming February, 27, 2012, against Olympia High School (ranked as high as 14th in the country in high-school baseball polls) with a starting time of 700p.m.
MVA Track and Field Team Competed in First Meet of Season Thursday

The 2012 Eagle Track and Field Team competed in the first meet of the season Thursday. The meet was the Royal Open held at The First Academy of Orlando. Top teams such as Jones High School, Trinity Prep, Admiral Farragut and Bishop Moore along with 8 other teams competed at the meet. The Eagles girls and boys teams each placed 7th, beating among others, a usually strong Father Lopez team.

MVA Powerlifters Win Florida State Championships

It was another spectacular display of awesome strength and self-controlled focus as our Montverde Academy Powerlifters were once again victorious in their recent participation at the 2012 USAPL Florida State Championships Powerlifting Competition held at the Don Taft Arena of Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, on February 18th, 2012. MVA Athletes in participation included Jake Carter, Eliott Grietens, Juan Padilla, Oscar Padilla, and Chen Deng. These talented young people were extremely successful

Last night, February 16th, 2012, Montverde Academy Boys' Baseball Eagles were once again victorious – this time beating Deltona Trinity Christian in thrilling fashion 7-6 . According Head Coach Tim Layden, "Angel Alicea drove in the winning run with 2 outs in the 7th inning for the walk off win. Bryan Scheker reached base with 2 outs and stole second on the first pitch.
